Bob Preuss

Senior Pastor

Ordained in 1979, Bob Preuss has been a pastor of Cross Lutheran church since September 1, 1989.  He has been blessed to be a part of this congregation whose members are “the salt of the earth.”  He values the personal relationships that are possible with a long pastorate in a congregation with a “small town feel.”  With a B.A. in Philosophy from the College of William and Mary, Bob appreciates questions as well as answers and opinions.  Still a student of the Scripture and because he tries to be a theologian of the cross, Bob works hard at preaching and teaching faithfully.  Pastoral care is a high priority for him as well.  He also values time spent with young people in class, on retreats, at summer camp, and on longer trips.

Bob has been married to Michele Simon since 1979.  They have a daughter Katie, who now lives in NC.  Bob enjoys gardening, reading, refereeing basketball, singing in the choir, and fishing in Canada and the BWCAW—not necessarily in that order.

Amy Oslund

Amy began ministry with Cross Lutheran Church as a seminary intern in 2007.  She was called and ordained as part time Associate Pastor in 2009.  Her previous experience as a Registered Nurse and as a youth director have served her well in learning to care for God’s people of various ages.  Amy values the relationships that are shared across the generations of Cross Lutheran Church and into our community.  She takes the need to study God’s Word seriously as she prepares to preach and provide pastoral care.    Amy values time with all ages of people whether visiting, serving neighbors in need, traveling or eating together.

Amy enjoys spending time with her husband Doug and their three children Signey, Simon and Nora.  She appreciates gardening, reading, camping, traveling and time with family and friends.

Carol Hastings

Carol Hastings

Carol Hastings began singing in the choir when her good friend Lisa McKinnon (nee Schmidt) asked her to come and sing in late 1978.  Carol became a member of the congregation in 1981.  She has served on many boards, gone on several summer Youth trips (mostly to the BWCAW), and played in the Handbell Ensemble.  Carol has always appreciated and enjoyed our intergenerational events and activities.  “Having all generations play handbells or games at our retreats helps build our relationships, letting everyone know they have people outside of their “family” who care about them.”  Carol considers Cross Lutheran to be her family and shares that feeling with many of the members.

In December 2008 Carol started working as the part time secretary primarily responsible for the worship bulletins and entering contributions in the computer.  In August of 2011 Carol became our full time secretary.  She spends part of her day driving school bus and is very thankful to be able to work at Cross Lutheran between her morning and afternoon routes.
